Showing Respect: Ronda Rousey Gets Knocked Out

WOW! I woke up this morning and saw a ton of tweets about Ronda Rousey getting knocked out by Holly Holm!! I was aware that the fight was going on, but I really didn’t think anything special was going to happen, like Rousey getting knocked out by Holly Holm! Once I saw this I immediately went searching for the video. I know that the actual video of the knockout is not supposed to be shown on TV for a certain amount of time, so networks like ESPN can only show different parts of the rounds and not the knockout. This keeps the value of buying the Pay-Per-View for the UFC. I did find several videos on YouTube that showed the KO, but they will probably be taken down soon.

Her are some videos of reactions

I went through these videos and while watching one I saw the beginning of the fight. This is where the opponents are suppose to touch gloves to show respect and sportsmanship. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was, when Rousey refused to touch gloves with Holm. Rousey has an attitude about her and for good reason. However, being that Holm was fairly new to UFC and that she was a 14 to 1 underdog, I expected, and everyone else expected, that this was going to be a fast fight for Rousey.

Why not touch gloves and show some respect for your opponent, you are getting ready to beat her down, or so we thought. This is where Karma came back to get Rousey and her ego. She got KO’d in the second round with a kick to the face. Now just by reading this you might think that Holm got lucky, nope, Holly Holm absolutely dominated the fight. She was in control of the fight the whole way. I think that the lack of respect for Holly Holm is what ultimately lead to the fall of Ronda Rousey’s undefeated streak and let a new streak for Holm take reign.
